What to do, dear 8 ball? What to do?
As you should know, the debut album of Adam Lambert, For Your Entertainment, comes out on November 23rd. Obviously I am going to get it, so I went to Amazon to pre-order it and there it was for only $9.99! No problem, right? That's what I thought, until I went to Adam's official website and saw that they are offering a special edition of the Album for $24.99. Huge difference! More than double what it costs on Amazon. For good measure I visited the iTunes store and there I can pre-order the new album for $16.99! Oh the conundrum!
So how do these 3 options differ?
Amazon's Austere Edition, you give them $9.99 + shipping & handling and you get 14 songs
The good: Cheap and for fetishists like me, you get a physical CD
The bad: You only get 14 songs and if you want to have it in your hands on the day it comes out you have to pay extra shipping.
The Adam Lambert website Collector's Edition for 24.99 + taxes, shipping & handling
The good: This edition contains a little hard-cover book! 2 bonus tracks downloadable on Nov 23rd and the first single is downloaded the second you order the Collector's Edition. For someone into instant gratification this sounds good.
The bad:The $15.00 extra you are paying for 2 extra songs and the 16 page 5.5" x 5" picture book. I'm all for special editions, but is this all there is? Also something that may seem minor but is important is having to give our credit card # to yet another website.
The iTunes store Deluxe Version for $16.99. No shipping & No handling.
The good: As soon as you pre-order it you get to download the single instantly. You not only get the 2 extra bonus tracks that the Collector's Edition gives you but you also get 2 videos! Behind the scenes at the Photo Shoot and Behind the scenes at the Recording Studio. You get it on the day it comes out, you don't have to pay shipping, you don't even have to wait for the mailman. The instantest gratification of all.
The bad: Again for us fetishists there is nothing physical to hold. There's a digital booklet but that's it. You have to make yourself content to flip through the pages with your cursor.
So which one are you going to get?
