And the winner is...

I'm still not member of the Academy, but if I were these are the guys who'd take the Oscars tonight:

Performance by an actor in a leading role: I loved Mickey Rourke big time in The Wrestler, but Sean Sean Penn's performance in Milk was a-fucking-mazing. Both deserve to take the Oscar home, but Sean deserves it more, and Mickey has already won the BAFTA and the Golden Globe! What pisses me off is that no matter the outcome Sean is going to get screwed because even if he wins, everybody is going to be like "They gave it to him because of prop 8". If they give it to Sean it's because he gave the best performance this year. Do yourself a favor and check out a Harvey Milk documentary, and see what I'm saying about Sean's performance. It was spot on, uncannily Milky.

Performance by an actor in a supporting role: Come on stop giving awards to Heath Ledger! I'd give it to Josh Brolin. But if my beloved Philip (Who was fine but no better than Josh Brolin), or Robert Downey (Who was fun but no better than Josh Brolin) or even Michael Shannon (Who was great but no better than Josh Brolin) get it it would be ok. But unfair to Josh Brolin :P

Performance by an actress in a leading role: Kate Winslet

Performance by an actress in a supporting role: Marisa Tomei closely followed by Penelope Cruz.

Best animated feature film of the year: You need ask? Wall-e

Film Editing: Slumdog Millionaire

Best motion picture of the year: Slumdog Millionaire.

Achievement in Sound Mixing: Wall-e

Sound Editing: Slumdog Millionaire

Cinematography: Slumdog Millionaire

Adapted Screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire

Original Screenplay: Milk but it'd be cool if Wall-e won cause it certainly deserves it too.

Achievement in directing: Danny Boyle

I have a far fetched wish. Remember that leaked Oscar winners list that's been around the last couple of days? I hope that it's real, and that in order to prove that it isn't the Academy is forced to change a few of the winners. In that case, Sean Penn would get the best actor award that he rightfully deserves.

Wanna meet this dog?

I've told you before about the Pet ads I'm a fervent fan of reading. Well, today while perusing the ads I came across a dog I have to share with you.

As you probably know, we have plenty of homeless pets in California, but for some reason shelters have been importing homeless dogs from Taiwan lately. This is one of those. The dog is one year old, It has all his shots, obeys basic commands, etc.
Problem? Since half his body is paralyzed he can't walk so he needs help with that:

You know what else he needs help with? I'll let him explain: "Because I am mostly paralyzed from the waist down, I don't have control over my bladder and bowels, so I need to be manually expressed, usually first thing in the morning, last thing at night and at least once about every 6 hours during the day. It's not difficult and I am very patient about it. My foster mum taught herself how to do it and will show you how"

Here it is:

Want to know more about him? Since he lived on the streets he's territorial with his bowl of food. He can't be disturbed when he is tired and trying to sleep because he gets defensive; to get on his good side he has to be given a treat first. He needs someone to be with him most of the day. He can't handle "slippery floors". He prefers an only adults house and needs to wear little dog pants so his legs won't get scratched:

Gotta say he looks funny with those pants, doesn't he?

Would you like to adopt him? You can take this dog home for only $250.00! And since the dog is only one year old, the next time someone asks you where you see yourself in 10 years you can answer with certainty "I see myself 'manually expressing' a dog 4 times a day". There are a billion other things I'd rather be certain of but for only $250.00 you can have a little something you can be sure you're going to be doing with your life. It's all good as long as you keep catering to his needs... And don't forget to tip toe around him when he's napping! Shhh!
