Cold War Kids at the Fillmore (Again!)
01/23/10
Don't know why I didn't post anything about the last time CWK played the Fillmore. Maybe that's why they decided to play there again and maybe they'd have been stuck there forever if I hadn't posted something (Not that there would be anything wrong with that).
I can't remember who opened their concert that time? Was it the awful We Barbarians? I think so. Luckily this time they brought someone new: Alec Ounsworth of Flashy Python and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah fame. He was good, not run-home-buy-all-his-music good, just I'm-having a-good-time good.
Alec's part of the concert lasted forever.
Then Cold War Kids took the stage.
This was one of the best CWK concerts I've been to, musically they're always excellent but this time there was more interaction with the audience. It was great, so great that I didn't even care that my heavy camera betrayed me and decided not to work that night. I just enjoyed the concert, even with the people to our right maniacally drunk dancing and the couple behind us talking loudly through the entire concert. The concert was so incredible that none of that mattered.
Normally, I would recommend that you not miss CWK when they come to your town. But unfortunately for most of you this is a very exclusive tour. They are just gonna play LA, SF, NY, Chicago and, for some weird reason, Alaska. So chances are you won't get the chance to experience this "Behave Yourself" tour.
You want to know what you're missing? Check the setlist:
I've Seen Enough
Hair Down
Red wine, Success!
Welcome To The Occupation
Dreams Old Men Dream
Relief
Hang Me Up To Dry
Santa Ana Winds
Golden Gate Jumpers
Hospital Beds
Long As I Can See The Light (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover)
Saint John
Something Is Not Right With Me
Encore:
Tell Me In The Morning
Sermons
My mega favorite: We Used To Vacation
Something interesting: Last time I saw Prince they were giving CDs as we entered the stadium. Well, CWK is doing something similar but the digital version. When you enter the concert they give you a card with a secret URL and password to download the "bootleg" of the concert you attended. I wish more bands did the same, this was an excellent souvenir to enjoy at home (besides my $25.00 t-shirt that is).
